Margo Baldwin, President & Publisher

Margo and Ian Baldwin founded Chelsea Green in 1984 out of their house on the south green of Chelsea Vermont. Starting with 3 books, they ran the company together and built up the list to more than 300 titles over a period of 20 years. Margo has been the President and Publisher since stepping back into full-time management in 2003. They live in South Strafford, VT with two dogs, two cats, and lots of wildlife.

sandi eaton

Sandi Eaton, Business & Distribution Director

Sandi started her journey with Chelsea Green the summer of 1998 she is an integral part of the day to day operations, ranging from A/P, A/R, payroll, royalties, HR, customer service, fulfillment and warehousing. In her spare time she enjoys cooking, photography and traveling the coast of Maine with her husband Dan & dog Archie.

Curtis Cass, IT Manager

Curtis has been assisting Chelsea Green with IT solutions since 2007 and joined Chelsea Green in the Summer of 2022. With over 20 years’ experience in computer networking, server management, workstation maintenance, and application support, he enjoys supporting Chelsea Green’s technology needs. Curtis is an avid guitarist, bassist, and a can be found at the lake waterskiing nearly every summer weekend.

Baar Graf, Operations Assistant

Baar joined Chelsea Green in 2023. Her responsibilities include providing administrative support and handling clerical tasks. In her spare time, Baar enjoys staying active with pickleball, golf, and rail trail cycling. She lives in West Lebanon with her husband Greg, where they enjoy hosting college baseball players from around the country who play for the Upper Valley Nighthawks in the NECBL (New England Collegiate Baseball League).

Editorial

Matthew Derr, Deputy Publisher

Matthew was appointed as Deputy Publisher in August 2024. He has acquired and edited numerous books for Chelsea Green as a freelance editor and served as a member of the company’s Board of Directors. Before joining Chelsea Green, he spent more than thirty years in education, where he led ecologically focused colleges and served on the boards of several sustainability and agriculture not-for-profit organizations. He oversees Chelsea Green’s editorial and production functions in both the U.S. and U.K., reporting to Charles Miers, Publisher of all Rizzoli International. Matthew is an avid birder and vintage collector. He lives with his partner, Sebastian, and his dog, Harper, on the shores of Lake Huron where his family has lived for generations.

Natalie

Natalie Wallace, Managing Editor

Natalie joined Chelsea Green as an Editorial Intern in 2019. In addition to acquiring and editing manuscripts, she oversees the copyediting, proofreading, and print preparation for our book projects. Outside the office, Natalie enjoys playing the viola, dancing Argentine tango, spending hours hunched over scattered jigsaw puzzle pieces, and walking in the woods.

Brianne Goodspeed

Brianne Goodspeed, Senior Editor

Brianne Goodspeed joined Chelsea Green in 2008. She has edited dozens of books across a range of subjects, such as integrative health, regenerative agriculture, permaculture, politics, memoir, cooking, and reference, including titles such as The Seed Underground (Janisse Ray), The Carbon Farming Solution (Eric Toensmeier), How to End the Autism Epidemic (J.B. Handley), From What Is to What If (Rob Hopkins), and many more. She looks for books that present original thinking, a rigorous challenge to orthodoxy, and the intellectual energy and depth of research to make a substantive contribution to the world. She lives in Vermont with her son.

Fern Bradley

Fern Marshall Bradley, Senior Editor

Fern Marshall Bradley joined the Chelsea Green staff in 2015. She has worked as a book editor for more than 25 years, including a stint as editor and managing editor of garden books at Rodale, Inc. Fern is the co-editor of Rodale’s All-New Encyclopedia of Organic Gardening and the author of Rodale’s Vegetable Garden Problem Solver and Building Raised Beds. She is also a contra and square dance caller. Fern and her husband enjoy keeping bees, tending a garden, and raising chickens and ducks at their homestead in upstate New York.

Anna Bliss, Senior Editor

Anna joined Chelsea Green in 2024. She has worked as a book editor for more than twenty years, including at HarperCollins, Lyons Press, and The Experiment. She has acquired and edited dozens of books—from histories and memoirs to health & wellness guides and cookbooks. Her love of nature, along with her work on Forrest Pritchard’s Gaining Ground and Start Your Farm, led her to Chelsea Green, where she’s excited to pursue more projects that support the mission of sustainability. Anna lives in Rhode Island’s East Bay. In her spare time, she likes to travel and visit Cape Cod with her family, garden, practice yoga, volunteer, and read great literature in the company of her two rescue pets.

Yardena Carmi, Editorial Assistant

Yardena Carmi joined Chelsea Green in 2024 as an Editorial Intern and assists with a range of editorial and clerical tasks. She graduated from Middlebury College with a double major in English and German. Other than books, her passions include cooking, music, and spending time outside.

Eliza Haun, Director of Rights and Contracts

Eliza joined Chelsea Green in the Spring of 2017 and is thrilled to be back in Vermont after 10 years in London. She thoroughly enjoys putting her English degree to use (it is possible!) overseeing Chelsea Green’s audiobook and Subsidiary Rights programs. In her spare time, she can most likely be found cooking, knitting, or on the back of a horse.

Production

Melissa Jacobson, Production and Art Director

Melissa has been designing books at Chelsea Green since 2011. Her covers and page layouts have won awards at the New England Book Show, New York Book Show, and PubWest Book Design Awards. The pica is her favorite unit of measurement—it’s beautifully divisible by 3 and 4! Previously, she worked at Quirk Books where she coordinated production and designed sales materials. She earned her MFA in Book Arts/Printmaking from The University of the Arts and her BFA in Illustration from the University of Connecticut.

Jenna Richardson, Production Coordinator

Jenna joined Chelsea Green in 2022. She was born and raised on Long Island, NY, but always had a longing to get out of the city. She now resides in Northern NH, where she recently helped design & build her own home. Prior to Chelsea Green she worked as a Facilities Manager/Assistant Manager at a wedding/music workshop resort in Northern NH. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, backpacking, paddleboarding, doing puzzles, going to concerts, working on projects around her property and baking. She graduated from the University at Buffalo with a major in Media Study, concentration in Production and minor in Graphic Design.

Sales

darrell koerner

Darrell Koerner, Specialty Sales and Events Manager

Darrell has been with Chelsea Green since 2007, managing specialty retailer accounts and promoting our books into the academic marketplace. He’s proud to represent a great independent publisher of high-quality books, and enjoys working with buyers, retailers, and Chelsea Green staff, who promote and sell our books to the wider world. When not reading, Darrell finds inspiration in nature, writing poetry, and photography. He lives in Boulder, Colorado with his wife and two cats.

Kirsten Drew, Book Strategy Manager

Kirsten joined Chelsea Green in 2022. She develops title publicity plans, meets with authors, and manages distribution partnerships. Additionally, she assists with sales of both US and UK titles. Kirsten earned her MSc in International Development from the University of Manchester in the UK and previously worked in libraries. She currently resides in Ohio and loves hiking with her dog Mabel, gardening, baking, and reading in her spare time.

Marketing

Sean Maher, Director of North American Sales, Marketing, and Publicity

Sean helms the strategic and analytical marketing and sales efforts for the US and Canada, while fostering a dynamic relationship with the Rizzoli US team and their distribution partners. He joined Chelsea Green in 2016 as the Director of Marketing, overseeing all marketing and publicity campaigns, as well as leading a robust events and partnerships program. In 2020, he was appointed to the newly created role of Director of Marketing and Sales Analytics for CGP, establishing a data-driven approach to marketing and promotions that focuses on both increasing pre-order campaign results for frontlist titles and creating backlist viability. Prior to Chelsea Green, he spent thirteen years with the Perseus Books Group, at Da Capo Press, holding multiple positions in the marketing and publicity departments. He lives in Tunbridge, VT, home of the Tunbridge World’s Fair.

UK Office

Muna Reyal, Head of Editorial and Production, UK

Muna looks after the books, commissioning and editing at Chelsea Green UK. She loves finding new voices and working with authors and the publishing team in the UK and US to create books to be proud of. With a background in non-fiction publishing and a recent MA in Anthropology of Food, Muna is keen to find new ideas around health and well-being, the production of food, sustainable living, nature writing and social and political change.

Alex Stewart, Head of UK Sales

Alex has recently joined the Chelsea Green UK team as Head of UK Sales and is very proud to be working for a great independent publisher, selling our books into the trade and non-traditional avenues. When not immersed in Chelsea Green books, Alex can be found brewing unique and interesting beers in his back garden.

Rosie Baldwin

Rosie Baldwin, UK Publicity & Marketing Director

Rosie spearheads the marketing, publicity, partnerships and events strategy for Chelsea Green Publishing UK. She collaborates with a variety of partner organisations to introduce Chelsea Green authors to new audiences across the UK, as well as running a variety of ‘Chelsea Green Original’ events. Rosie also works closely with the marketing and events team in the USA to develop strong international marketing strategies.

Jonathan Rae, UK Commissioning Editor

Jon joined Chelsea Green in 2019 with a background in holistic education, social enterprise, and common property regimes, as well as a love for hiking, wild swimming and recognising the good in the world. I am passionate in my commissioning about surfacing those inspirational individuals and collaborators – the practical philosophers of our time – who are stepping up and exploring wild ideas in practice together with the means of telling the story. More often than not, this means I am working with first-time writers who cover the full-spectrum of sustainability and regenerative living. Jon has travelled extensively and has also lived and worked in the United States, Australia, Syria, Egypt, Italy, Scotland and, now, in England.

Bev Blee, UK Operations Manager

Bev joined the UK team in 2019 with over 30 years of experience in publishing operations and accountancy. She manages our day-to-day operations in the UK and provides financial and sales reporting, while working closely with our distribution and sales team as well as our online retail accounts. She lives in beautiful South Devon, and enjoys gardening, cooking and drawing in her spare time.

Digital Marketing

Gretchen Kruesi, Director of Digital Development

Gretchen has been with Chelsea Green from 2010-2015 and re-joined in 2018 after a hiatus traveling to horse shows as Director of Audience for an equestrian online news outlet. Previously working in political organizing, policy and non-profit sector for over a decade. She built her career on one simple principle: work where your passion is. As a self-described data and book nerd, there is no better place than Chelsea Green. Gretchen manages the Chelsea Green website, e-commerce, email program, social media and anything internets related.

When not digging into all things internets you’ll find her color-coding spreadsheets, building databases, volunteering, boxing, skydiving, horseback riding, hiking, kayaking and of course a good lively debate.
