May 5, 2011, 1400 PST, SEBASTOPOL – I have personally interrogated underage criminal suspects who could lie better than White House Press Secretary Jay Carney. It has been four days since the P.T. Barnum (“There’s a sucker born every minute”) proclamation of the death of Osama bin Laden (OBL). President Obama’s account of the firefight [...]

May 5, 2010 — … I would live to see the day when something like this aired on CNBC. Peak Oil has gone mainstream. The cat’s out of the bag… and hungry.
April 30, 2010, 1330 PDT — I watched the press conference live. The question came from a Dow Jones reporter. Present on the stage (among others) were Slazar (Interior), Napolitano (DHS), The Chiarman of BP, Gov. Jindal and a Coast Guard Admiral. The Dow Jones reporter confronted the attendees with two scientific studies saying that the leak rate from the sunken oil rig in the gulf was actually 25,000 barrels per day or five times more than BP had been stating as of this morning. Intial reports kept it a a couple hundred barrels per day but the number of barrels — and the size of the slick — continue to grow. No one on the dais denied or even modestly refuted the number. They had been totally busted. The Coast Guard Admiral, protecting her service, stepped up and said, “We have been operating since Day One as though this were a worst-case scenario.” The BP Chairman took the mic and also did not deny it. He mumbled something about “we’re responding as the numbers get bigger.”
OK, this explains why Ahmadinejad wanted to pull 5 million out of Teheran this week and Israel just told all it’s citizens to evacuate the Sinai. Of all possible explanations, this is the worst. Remember that potassium iodide I suggested a few months ago?.. I’m not kidding. Every other fianancial and energy indicator is flashing red right now. Peak Oil’s gone mainstream. And the volume of forward-hedged buys passing June 2008 by miles yesterday says that players are expecting one of two things; either an imminent Israeli attack on Iran, (which a Hamas conflict could/would provoke); or a severe shortage of oil in the face of summer demand… or both. Japan is about to implode and all of the economic ugly chickens all over the world are flying home on afterburner.
In the Civil Rights and Vietnam era, declassified documents and court cases showed that the ONE thing the FBI was more afraid of than anything else was an alliance between blacks and whites: where civil rights met the Vietnam war. As soon as Matrin Luther King started speaking against the war he was marked for death. — Now, the one thing The Powers That Be are afraid of is any alliance between so-called left and so-called right. That’s the only alliance; the only coalition that can possibly save lives and stand up against what’s coming. So any time I see crap like “from the left” or “from the right”, I shudder. Left and right are meaningless terms to me because I live outside the paradigm — at least in my head.
Feb. 26, 2010 — I was just able to get back online and see how many of you had rushed to my aid. More than $1,500 came in through Paypal alone and I am deeply touched. Thanks to my new friend and colleague, Paul Mineau, I am just loading software into a new computer. Thank you all so much. For most of you these donations are just a way of sustaining a worthy and useful service.
Jan 13, 2009 — Remember Katrina and Rita? Those hurricanes that prompted a government response which made most of us ashamed to be American? I am certain that the global response to a devastation far worse, as a result of the Port Au Prince quake, will make Bush’s Follies look like a well-oiled machine. Not only is the situation on the ground worse; the governments that might send massive aid are financial and economic basket cases. With the death toll already circling 200,000, and almost all critical infrastructure destroyed, the effort needed would have broken most governments before the collapse. It would take a Marshall Plan. So fuggedboudit. The UN can’t help much either. No one can. There will be so many stories of courage, heroism, sacrifice and love to arise from this tragedy. At some point I can just see good souls all over the Gulf with private boats trying to do what they can. Take some fresh water and medical supplies in. Maybe pull a few out before anarchy and disease consume everything. It reminds me of a line Jeff Bridges once spoke: “You human beings are at your best when things are worst.” — That is exactly what must change in us.
As I write, the world is falling apart. Military forces from all major powers are flooding the Gulf of Aden, using piracy and terrorism as a pretext. This is all jockeying in anticipation of a major, and possibly total, war in and around the Persian Gulf — where 60% of the planet’s known oil is. Pakistan is imploding. Within days it will face a “worst possible” energy crisis and, according to Pakistani news sources, trigger massive civil unrest.
